EP Committees on Sustainable Europe Investment Plan

Nov 4, 2020 | European Institutions, Nuclear Europe News

On 16 October, the ECON (Economic and Monetary Affairs) and BUDG (Budgets) committees of the European Parliament adopted an own initiative report entitled “Sustainable Europe Investment Plan – How to finance the Green Deal”. The goal of this report is to contribute to financing a sustainable transition, while supporting the regions and communities most exposed to its impact. While the initial draft report made no reference to nuclear, several amendments sought to exclude investments in nuclear. The adopted text – result of much negotiated compromise amendments – doesn’t make any reference to nuclear and calls for a full alignment with the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. The text will now have to go through a vote in plenary for its final adoption. The vote is scheduled for Wednesday 11 November.
